Refilling a Prescription from the Workbench
Prescription can be refilled from the Workbench. This is the most convenient method if a patient calls in a refill or comes into the pharmacy for a refill and has their prescription number(s).
To refill a prescription from the Workbench:
- From the Workbench, select the Prescriptions dashboard tile.
- Select Refill.
The Refill window appears. - In the Rx(s) field, enter the prescription number(s) using a forward slash (/) to separate multiple prescription numbers
- If the patient does not have their prescription number(s), enter the patient's last and first name in the Patient field to select the prescriptions.
- Enter the appropriate Ready Time.
- Select Process. The Rx Detail window appears.
- Verify the following information:
- The Last Fill date is within a reasonable time to dispense based on the days supply.
- There are refills remaining.
- If there are no refills remaining:
- The main tab is named Rx: ReAuth and not Rx: Refill.
- QA will be 0 (zero).
- A message displays in the Alerts section.
- If there are no refills remaining:
- The remaining information is correct.
- The Last Fill date is within a reasonable time to dispense based on the days supply.
- Select the Fill button to process the prescription.
- If filling multiple prescriptions, the next record will appear when the current record is finished processing.
Note: If a prescription that has no refills is refilled, a label set will print and the prescription will remain in the Pending tab until it is authorized. For more information, see Creating an Authorization Request.
