Refilling a Prescription from the Workbench

Prescription can be refilled from the Workbench. This is the most convenient method if a patient calls in a refill or comes into the pharmacy for a refill and has their prescription number(s).

To refill a prescription from the Workbench:

  1. From the Workbench, select the Prescriptions dashboard tile.
  2. Select Refill.

    The Refill window appears.
  3. In the Rx(s) field, enter the prescription number(s) using a forward slash (/) to separate multiple prescription numbers

    • If the patient does not have their prescription number(s), enter the patient's last and first name in the Patient field to select the prescriptions.
  4. Enter the appropriate Ready Time.
  5. Select Process. The Rx Detail window appears.
  6. Verify the following information:
    • The Last Fill date is within a reasonable time to dispense based on the days supply.
    • There are refills remaining.
      •  If there are no refills remaining:
        • The main tab is named Rx: ReAuth and not Rx: Refill.
        • QA will be 0 (zero).
        • A message displays in the Alerts section.
    • The remaining information is correct.
  7. Select the Fill button to process the prescription.
    • If filling multiple prescriptions, the next record will appear when the current record is finished processing.

Note: If a prescription that has no refills is refilled, a label set will print and the prescription will remain in the Pending tab until it is authorized. For more information, see Creating an Authorization Request.
